Reynoble

D.O. Navarra

Vinicola Corellana started out in 1989 and just recently added the Reynoble label to their portfolio of award-winning wines.  Located in the lower Navarra region, just a few miles northeast of Rioja, Reynoble emphasizes to showcase the native grapes of the area and make them in a traditional style that speaks of the area.  To put it another way, there is a clear desire to make distinguished, unique wines and to avoid the overtly heady international style that has doomed Spanish wines over the last decade.  The starting point here is naturally to grow grapes indigenous to the general area such as Graciano, Garnacha and Tempranillo.  The 70 hectares of vineyards are made up of several small plots centered around the town of Corella.  Vines range from 30-50 years old.   In order to achieve the finest quality fruit, the farming is done with organic methods and all the fruit is harvested by hand.

The Graciano undergoes a brief carbonic maceration before it begins alcoholic fermentation with an eight day maceration in stainless tanks.  25% of malolactic fermentation is carried out in tight-grain French barrels with the remaining 75% staying behind in tank.  Thereafter, all of the wine matures on its fine lees for four months in French oak before bottling.

The old vines Garnacha has a similar elevage to the Graciano with the primary difference being a slightly warmer temperature used during the carbonic phase.

The Tempranillo has a similar elevage to the Graciano and Garnacha except all malolactic fermentation is carried out in large stainless and tanks and subsequent aging of five months in French oak before bottling.
