Cave des Vignerones d'Estezargues
Côtes du Rhône
Cuvée des Galets
Estezargues is a progressive co-op comprised of 10 growers in the southern Rhone. All growers must farm in an ecologically sustainable manner in order to be part of the co-op. In the cellar, there is no filtering, no fining, and sulfur is only used at bottling in fairly small amounts. Fermentation is done in cement cuves and the wine is matured for 8-12 months before release. The economy of scale that is made possible by the co-op and the very smart farming and cellar practices employed by Estezarges result in a consistent quality and price that simply can't be beat.
The Cuvée des Galets is a combination of 50% Grenache, 30% Carignan, with the remaining balance coming from Syrah and Cinsault all grown in soils containing round stones "galets" that are so typical of nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards. Beaming with fresh fruit, a light-to-medium body and plenty of characteristic southern Rhone spicy flavors, this wine is very versatile at the table.
